Celery Lemon Pineapple Smoothie: Celery contains antioxidants and polysaccharides that are known to act as anti-inflammatories, especially flavonoid and polyphenol antioxidants. When researchers from the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at Helwan University in Egypt fed rats celery (along with chicory and barley), these rats experienced a reduction in the amount of dangerous fat buildup within the liver.
- 1 cup celery
- 1 ½ cups
- pineapple fresh or frozen
- 1 lemon slice
- 1 cup cucumber roughly chopped
- 1 cup water
- Blend everything together until smooth. Add water to adjust the sweetness and consistency, if desired.
Lemon peel and pith have many health benefits so I like to blend whole slices of lemons in my smoothies. If your blender is not strong enough to blend lemon with the peel attached to it then I would use the juice of 1 or 2 lemons (taste to see how many you want to use).
